Bestinet SDN BHD calls application from Nepali Health Centers
Kathmandu: Malaysian government has called application from 86 health centers recommended by Nepal Government for necessary inspection to perform the BMS screening process to recruit aspiring Nepali migrant workers in the country. Bestinet SDN BHD is responsible for the medical examination of workers arriving at Malaysia from various countries of origin. Through a notice issued in its website linked with the Malaysian immigration department on Monday, it has called for application from interested centers recommended by the Nepal government earlier. After the implementation of BMS screening, the problem of fake medical report has ended. Besides, the health problems of Nepali workers migrating to Malaysia has also significantly reduced. The 36 health centers performing BMS screening of workers traveling to Malaysia since 2015 are not required to put forward new application, the notice has clarified. “This notice is for the proposed 86 health centers,” the notice issued by Bestinet SDN BHD reads, "those 36 organizations working since earlier do not need reapply.” At present, 36 health centers perform BMS screening in Nepal in comparison to 2 in Thailand, 2 in Cambodia, 3 in Vietnam, 3 in Sri Lanka, 4 in Myanmar, 4 in China and 17 in Bangladesh. They are all permitted to perform BMS screening. According to the notice, interested centers have one month to apply online along with necessary documents. This application is opened in accordance to the agreement between the government of Nepal and Malaysia. Nepal and Malaysia signed labor agreement on October 29, 2018. The technical committee comprising of officials from two countries in accordance with the agreement recommended additional 86 health centers to process and approve for the BMS screening procedure. Second combined meeting of officials from both the countries held from September 10-12 agreed to permit 36 health centers to perform BMS screening, who already had done in the past, and restart the process of sending workers to Malaysia. According to the decision of the technical committee, those 36 health centers registered in Nepal and selected by the Malaysian team are currently allowed to perform BMS screening. For other 86 health centers registered by Nepal government, the government of Malaysia has agreed to start their selection process from the first week of November. This agreement marks the commencement of health center selection process. The 86 health centers to perform the BMS screening of workers going to Malaysia should receive a reference letter from the Embassy of Malaysia and apply online with other necessary documents attached. Bestinet SDN BHD should present 6 professional documents for health centers and additional 10 documents including various license, permits related with health. Prior to this, Bestinet SDN BHD called applications from interested and eligible health centers registered by the government of Nepal and selected 39 of them in the year 2013. A total of 160 health centers applied for the BMS screening of migrant workers bound for Malaysia. Malaysian representatives selected 39 of them through monitoring. Among them the permits of 3 health centers were cancelled on the premise of not completing SOP and lack in quality. BMS screening is an IT-based modern health screening procedure. Malaysian government has made it compulsory for workers arriving in the country from all the countries. After the implementation of BMS screening, the problem of fake medical report has ended. Besides, the health problems of Nepali workers migrating to Malaysia has also significantly reduced. Even though 36 health centers in Nepal are performing the BMS screening, only the Qatar visa center performs medical screening of workers migrating to Qatar. For workers migrating to Saurdi Arab, Oman and Bahrain 12 medical centers under GAMCA Nepal perform the health screening. Similarly, those traveling to America are provisioned to complete health examination via IOM. People traveling to other countries also should perform the medical examination as directed by the relevant country. BMS screening is only performed in person. This has also languished the illegal examination in this sector. Earlier, the labor agreement between the two countries agreed to bear the expenses including the medical examination, via processing by the employer. According to the agreement, the worker does not need to pay any cost at all. Acting Malaysian ambassador to Nepal Ahmad Fhadil Ismail called the agreement historic and said Malaysia is committed for the implementation of the agreement.
